I Knew Fast Food Was Bad But DANG!

I am not a fan of fast food. If I do go to a fast food restaurant I usually go to Chik fil A. I haven't done an extensive amount of research on the harmful effects of eating fast food but have read enough to make the choice to minimize the amount of fast food my family eats. For the past few years I have been on a quest to feed my family healthy foods without a lot preservatives and hormones. Don't get me wrong, I'm not over here raising my own cattle or anything. Heck I tried growing my own tomatoes but got too impatient. Reading the below article makes me glad I don't give my kids McDonald's nuggets. My husband on the other eats them like crazy. In fact, McDonalds is on my top 10 list of fast food places to avoid. According to the article, Mickey D's nuggets supposedly contain dimethylpolysiloxane, a form of silicone also used in cosmetics. They are also said to contain an an additive named tertiary butylhydroquinone (TBHQ) which is a form of butane. Seriously, why in the world would I feed my family this crap.

I do however give my family Wendy's chicken nuggets on occasion. I am afraid of what I am going to find out when I research the mysterious components of their nuggets.  I don't think all foods served at fast food restaurants are bad for you. Mickey D's has healthier options such as oatmeal, grilled chicken wraps and their fruit parfait. Like I said before I haven't done an extensive amount of research to know for sure. Read the article and watch the video at the below links to learn more about the ingredients in McDonald's food. I will do more research and let you guys know what I find out.

How Do You Shower?

I was listening the Elvis Duran and the Morning Show on my way to work this morning and the topic of discussion was,"Do you use a washcloth when you take a shower?".  I thought the topic was amusing and funny. I have always used a washcloth in the shower but my husband didn't until we met. I was really surprised when he told me he never used one.  He told me he just rubs the bar of soap across his body to get clean. The choice to use a washcloth or not to use a washcloth really doesn't matter to me as long as you incorporate some soap into the mix. How many of you ladies use washcloths in the shower?

Im Back!

I've been away for a few days. I've had a cold and been working long hours.  I'm back now and have a lot of good posts coming.

To Kindle Or Not To Kindle?

To kindle or not to kindle is the question I am trying to answer. I love to read but I am kinda old fashion when it comes to reading.  I like to have the actual book and like to go to the bookstore and browse through the books.  There is a used bookstore by my house but the selection is very limited.  Since I don't have very much time to do this anymore because of our work schedules, I've been buying books from Amazon. The problem is that I can finish a good size book in a day or two.  I could order more than 2 books at a time but it can get kind of expensive.  My husband suggested I get a Kindle. I looked up the pros and cons of getting a Kindle but want to hear first hand from you ladies if you prefer to read via a actual book or via a Kindle.

Bored Out Of My Freakin Mind!

As a wife, mother and career woman I usually never have any quiet time to myself.  I have 3 little boys between the ages 1 and 5.  We were all supposed to go out today but since our 1 year old has a cold, my hubby took our 2 older boys to the movies to see Alvin and the Chipmunks. I thought I was going to enjoy this time "almost" to myself. The baby is still here but I timed his nap so that he goes to sleep while they are at the movies. So the baby is asleep and everyone else is gone. I should be in heaven right now but guess what, I am sooooo freaking bored! OH MY GOODNESS! I am sleepy but can't go to sleep. I already know that as soon as I fall asleep my baby is going to wake up.  What's worse is that I am sick of the Internet! LOL. I can't believe I'm saying that. LOL. What's ironic is that while I claim to be tired of the Internet I am writing this blog.  I never thought I would miss hearing the word "mommy" 1,000 times in 5 minutes. LOL. I guess I'm going log off and continue to watch more reruns of  "The Big Bang Theory".  Oh wait.....I hear the baby starting to wake up.  I have something to occupy my time now. LOL.

What's Your Favorite?

I have been working to increase my number of followers. In doing so, I began thinking about what I could add to my blog to make people return. I love when people start following me but I would also love for them to return.  This means that I need to give them something to make them come back. Let's face it, there are thousands of blogs out there. What do you do to get people to come back to your blog? What is your favorite blog and why?

One of my favorite blogs is Novice Mama. She creates comic strips filled with the adventures every mom goes through. I love it! I hope she doesn't get mad at me for mentioning her blog. I can always relate to her strips. My husband gets a kick out of them too.

My 3 Boys Are No Match For This Robot!

I have been meaning to write a post about this for awhile now.  As many of you know, I have 3 boys under the age of 6.  No matter how much I vacuumed, I could never keep the floor clean. Well that was the case until I got the iRobot 560 Roomba Vacuuming Robot, Black and Silver as a birthday present last September. My husband thought I was crazy when I asked for a vacuum cleaner for my birthday.  He did not understand why I would want this for a present.  Well, in my mind, I envisioned a spotless floor 24 hours a day. That's exactly what I got with the Roomba Vacuum Robot. This thing is awesome! It is pricey but it is worth the money. I got mine for $350.00 on Amazon.  It does a excellent job cleaning the floor and has sensors so it doesn't go down the stairs.  When the floor is clean it goes back to it's docking station.  This product has received great reviews on iRobot's website. This little robot has taken away one of my many household chores. When I get home from work the last thing I usually want to do is vacuum. Now I can set my Roomba to do it automatically. Ladies, I was not contacted to do this review nor am I getting paid to do it. I just wanted to help make your lives a little easier.

Preparing for Kindergarten

My oldest son will be starting kindergarten this year.  I am so excited for him and want make sure he is prepared for this new milestone. Listed below is a checklist of the things your little one should know before starting kindergarten. Don't get worried if your child doesn't know everything on the checklist.  All kids learn at different paces and hit milestones at different times.  What is most important for teachers is a healthy child that is ready to learn.
  1. Know the alphabet
  2. Know the difference between uppercase and lowercase letters
  3. Counting and number recognition.  Your child should be able to count to 10 at a minimum, although 20 is becoming more mainstream.
  4. Random letter recognition. This means your child actually knows her letters, instead of just memorizing the order of the alphabet.
  5. Pencil grip: If your child learns improper pencil grip, it's hard to unlearn it.
  6. Social skills: Social skills are almost more important than the academic.
  7. Be able to focus: Listen and sit still for at least 15 minutes.
  8. Responsibility: Children need to be responsible for their belongings.
  9. How to use classroom tools.
  10. Confidence. Children are more confident when they are familiar with something, teachers echoed.
  11. Listen to stories without interrupting
  12. Recognize rhyming sounds
  13. Pay attention for short periods of time to adult-directed tasks
  14. Understand actions have both causes and effects
  15. Show understanding of general times of day
  16. Cut with scissors
  17. Trace basic shapes
  18. Begin to share with others
  19. Start to follow rules
  20. Be able to recognize authority
  21. Manage bathroom needs
  22. Button shirts, pants, coats, and zip up zippers
  23. Begin to control oneself
  24. Separate from parents without being upset
  25. Speak understandably
  26. Talk in complete sentences of five to six words
  27. Look at pictures and then tell stories
  28. Identify rhyming words
  29. Identify the beginning sound of some words
  30. Recognize some common sight words like "stop"
  31. Sort similar objects by color, size, and shape
  32. Recognize groups of one, two, three, four, and five objects

So What If He's Married!

I don't know how I come up with these posts. I have always wondered why some women are attracted to married men. I actually stopped being friends with my best friend because she was dating a married man and then became pregnant with his baby. Well that wasn't the only reason but it was part of it. What can he possibly give you besides sex? Listed below are some of the reasons why I would never date a married man even if I wasn't married.

1. I believe it is immoral
2. I don't want to be responsible for breaking up a family.
3. I deserve to be number one in my man's life.
4. I don't want to catch a STD.
5. I dont want to have sex with someone knowing that he probably just had sex with his wife.
6. I know I deserve better.
7. I don't get my self worth from a man.
8. I wouldn't be able to look my kids in the eye. I want to be set a example for my kids.
9. I just think it's nasty.
10. God, fate or whatever you believe in wouldn't send you someone else's man.

So those are a few of the reasons I would never date a married man or even a man in a relationship. Listed below are some of the reasons I think women may date married men. Let me know if I way off base or if you have anything to add.

1. Lack of morals and values
2. They enjoy the attention from the married man.
3. They love the challenge.
4. They think that a married man will want to settle down with them.
5. They like the excitement of sneaking around.
6. They feel that the wife should be doing a better job of keeping her husband happy.
7. They only want sex and not a long term relationship.
8. A married man is the forbidden fruit.

Bottle Water Please

The next time you go to a restaurant or fast food establishment you may want to order a bottle water instead of a fountain drink. Why? Beacuase of the bateria and germs that  may be lingering in the plastic tubes or ice scoop of the of the ice maker and drink fountains.  One of the major causes of the bacteria is the employees failure to properly wash their hands. Some of the bacteria coming out of the drink machines contained coliform bacteria which indicates possible fecal contamination.  Can you say gross! Read the below articles for more details.
